TRANSIT PAYMENT PROCEDURE

We have a Transit Ranger in a golf cart who will process your payment while you are waiting in line on Panama Blvd to be boarded on the Ferry. The Ranger will be equipped to process payments using credit and debit cards including Visa, MasterCard, Discover and American Express. We do accept checks for payment. Please put your phone number on the check. Our objective is to speed up the boarding process, and allow the Mates to focus on the safety of vehicles and walk-on guests.

In addition to collecting payments, the Ranger will be collecting Pass Book Tickets, punching Flex Passes, verifying Annual Passes, and recording activity for those Home Builders who have contracts. After being processed by the Ranger you will be given a Boarding Pass which you will provide to the Mate when your vehicle is in place on the Ferry.

Later in the day (usually after 6 PM) the Ranger will not be on duty. You will line up on Panama Blvd and wait for the Mate to motion you onto the Ferry where he will collect your fee while crossing to the island. We NOW accept credit cards when the Mate is processing your payment on the ferry.

HOME OWNERS – GUEST AND SERVICE COMPANIES PAYMENT GUIDELINES –

OPTION 1 – Call the Transit Office PRIOR to the day of arrival and give the office the information. They can accept Credit Card payment over the phone or Bring Payment to the Transit Office PRIOR to the day of arrival. We will add the name to Daily Barge List that is provided to the Ranger so that they may board the Ferry.

OPTION 2 – If you are on the island you may bring a Coupon Book Ticket to the Mate when the Ferry is on the Island side and he will deliver it to the Ranger. This is only for the day of the arrival. Your name and the name of the Guest/Service Company MUST be written on the back of the ticket.

TICKETS NOT USED the same day should be picked up THAT DAY as we WILL NOT be responsible for them after that time.

When you want to deliver a ticket to the Ferry Mate – Please do not board the Ferry until all traffic has finished unloading. The Transit Company is not responsible for Coupon Book Tickets that are not used on the specified day and become lost.

OPTION 3 – For owners who are out of the area, and have service needs at their Island Home; arrangements should be made with the service provider directly. All Property Owners should encourage vendors who do business on Don Pedro/Knight Island to purchase their own COUPON BOOKS and to add the fee for the trip to their billing to you. This would reduce your responsibility and make the system more efficient for all involved.

FLEX PASSES CANNOT BE USED FOR COMMERCIAL VEHICLES TO BOARD THE FERRY.

If you have a large truck – dump truck, cement truck , moving truck – going to the island please inform your vendor that we prefer Larger Trucks to use the Ferry between 10 AM and 2 PM.
